Portable Dreams

The Portable Dreams Exhibition was a deeply moving and thought-provoking showcase featuring the works of nine artists from our community of refugee creatives, each navigating the process of rebuilding their artistic journey.

Born from conversations about how best to present the work of displaced artists, this exhibition goes beyond simply displaying their art—it tells their stories. As participants moved through the gallery, they encountered original suitcases that our artists carried while fleeing the war in Ukraine. These cases, filled with personal belongings, represent the fragments of their past lives and the creative spirit they fought to preserve even in the face of loss and uncertainty.

This exhibition offered an intimate and emotive experience, inviting viewers to witness the reality of condensing a life into a single suitcase. It also provided a unique opportunity to engage with the artists, hear their stories first-hand, and gain insight into their creative processes.
